Okay. A Russian surf rock duo with a female guitarist who shreds the shit out of her guitar. Get on it.

porno de bolso
Have you heard any Brazilian punk rock today? No, you say? Well I have just the thing for you.
PORNO DE BOLSO rocks with a drunken swagger, and although I have no clue what they're saying (it's all in Portuguese) I know they're tough dudes.

MUSIC /// JACKIE LOMAX - THE EAGLE LAUGHS AT YOU
JACKIE LOMAX is known for having worked with legendary artists such as ERIC CLAPTON, GEORGE HARRISON, and having released music through APPLE RECORDS.
For you hipster dicks, he's also TERRY RICHARDSONS' step dad.
This track is heavy as a lead bull dick.

MUSIC /// HUTCH DAVIE - GWENDOLYN AND THE WEREWOLF
Here's a bizarre rocker for you from the guy who wrote the arrangements for classics such as "SLEEPWALK" and "MY BOYFRIENDS BACK".
The piano in this song is SICK.

MUSIC /// WOOZY VIPER - ROCK & ROLL
The mysterious weirdos behind WOOZY VIPER have released another venomous album into the world and it's completely free.
"ROCK & ROLL" is a fitting title for the album, which runs the gamut of rock n' roll sounds, from Stones-y struts to Sun Records echoed out rompers.
Download the album at their website below and shoot them an e-mail to let 'em know you like it. This will be a personal favorite of mine for a good while.

MUSIC /// MILK MUSIC
From what I can tell, this band does not exist on the internet. I can't really find any info other than the occasional show listing through another band.
Regardless, I managed to get their demo through ONGAKUBAKA and it's a solid slab of fuzzy, sludged out rock n' roll.
Heavy like dirt and a bit muffled as well, the songs are good once you get past the murk.
Listen to "NERVOUS WRECK" and download the entire demo below.

MUSIC /// KIP TYLER - SHE'S MY WITCH
KIP TYLER was a nobody, basically. Recorded a good amount of music, but never went anywhere.
He did, however, create one of the greatest rock n' roll songs of all time.
"SHE'S MY WITCH" has attitude. It has low slung guitar confidence.
This song permeates rebel bravado that is scarcely found in rock n' roll music these days.
Listen to it and let it slink it's way around your brain.

MUSIC /// BURNT ONES
BURNT ONES debut album, "BLACK TEETH AND GOLDEN TONGUES" is a fuzzy, dreamy, rock n' roll romp.
Obvious influence by T REX, JESUS AND MARY CHAIN, and doo wop melodies.
The whole album is a great listen from start to finish.
Listen to "BLACK TEETH AND GOLDEN TONGUES" at his BandCamp.

MUSIC /// PSYCHIC LUNCH RECORDS
PSYCHIC LUNCH RECORDS is a force to keep an eye on.
A collaboration between two Texas based music junkies, STEPH LOPEZ and SKYLER SALINAS and Brooklyn based art duo CMRTYZ, this label is already on a roll.
Here's the first 3 releases they have lined up. Impressive is a word that comes to mind:
FUNGI GIRLS / INDIAN WARS SPLIT 7" (on white vinyl)
DEAD GHOSTS LIVE LP (on clear vinyl)
THE BEETS / CASSIE RAMONE SPLIT 7" (on clear blue vinyl)
Each record comes in a silk screened, hand numbered sleeve.
Pre-order your copies at the PSYCHIC LUNCH website below.

MUSIC /// MICKEY LEE LANE
Maybe this counts as a video post, but not really.
I'm tired of digging through MySpace looking for bands and just finding shit, so tonight I'm binging on 50's and 60's gems on YouTube.
Feel the tube.

MUSIC /// GREG ASHLEY
This guy is seriously underrated.
Awesome rootsy sounding psychedelic music and he records it all himself in his Oakland studio.
Get your hands on "MEDICINE FUCK DREAM" if you get a chance because it's KILLER.

MUSIC /// The Eichmann Family
For my second post on the music scene in ZAGREB, CROATIA, I'm writing about the trash rock trio, THE EICHMANN FAMILY.
These dudes are running the gamut from raging punkers to psychotic surfy twang.
The band shares a guitarist with WELCOMIN' COMMITTEE IN FLAMES, who I've previously blogged about and their bass player plays stand up, dog house bass, which is impressive as it's being used in trashy rock n' roll, as opposed to cheesy ass "psychobilly".
Head over to their MySpace and give these dudes a listen.

junkers ///
This band sounds like a classic to me.
All of the songs I've heard have that stand out rock n' roll quality to them. The kind where either the guitar, vocals, lyrics, drums, whatever, get stuck in your head. Something jumps out and grabs you.
I like bands who know how to mix their songs in the studio. I personally think the largest problem with the new lo-fi movement is a lack of a good ear (i.e. TIMES NEW VIKING, WAVVES, etc) allowing everything to be mixed essentially at the same level and basically becoming a giant puddle of shit sounds.
JUNKERS know what they're doing. They can write awesome songs and they know how to make them live up to that potential in the studio. David Bowie and Marc Bolan would be proud.
Dig on them.

dr. vampire ///
If you're looking for some solid instrumental psychobilly creeper tunes, then London's DR. VAMPIRE is where you need to be looking.
Surfy organs, tremelo'd out guitars spinning all over the place, all with an eternal Halloween vibe.
Let this be a lesson to all of your dronetards out there that Goth music can be fun.
Head over to their Myspace and check it out!

bobby hutan ///
My best friend Kyle just recently got back from a 2 year stint in SINGAPORE and MALAYSIA. We used to play in the band CARA DEL GATO together and have known each other since we were both wearing diapers.
Upon his return, Kyle's first desire was to start writing and recording music and he has now begun to do so under the name of BOBBY HUTAN.
The first BOBBY HUTAN release is a digital single on WHITE MOON RECORDINGS called "SWAMP FOOT BETTY".
If you're looking for a lo-fi southern rock n' roll fix, this is your stop.
Grab the single below.

pros & cons /// re-release of exile on main street
The Rolling Stones have been getting a lot of press lately to accompany the re-release of Exile on Main Street. Unlike most my age, I'm very excited by the news. The re-release will expose this fantastic album to a whole new generation of music fans, thereby further establishing the Stones as one of the greatest rock n' roll bands of all times. And it will most certainly make them the kings of the geriatric rock genre.
In case you missed it, here's a funny little segment from Late Night with Jimmy Fallon featuring the Stones:
Here are some other folks weighing in on the re-release:
Re-release of Exile @ The Canadian Press
Re-release of Exile @ Chicago Tribune
Bonus video (interview with Keith Richards):
