FUCK. This record is SO GOOD.

Came out some time ago, but never saw it get much press. Go buy it, seriously.

family of love

Crazy as fuck, "bad boy" pop wonders Dom will be releasing an alternate version of their highly anticipated "FAMILY OF LOVE" EP through Australian label MODULAR PEOPLE.

The Modular release is said to be a less polished mix and sound which is more true to what the band was going for on the 5 song follow up to last years killer "SUN BRONZED GREEK GODS".

The more "polished" sounding version of "FAMILY OF LOVE" is being released in the US by ASTRALWERKS on August 9th.

dirt eyes

Psych'd out , sludgy as hell, and the vocals sound like screams coming from a basement.

This rules.

teens

Here's some scrappy psychedelic rock n' roll for your Wednesday. These guys hail from Boise and I dig it.

Recommended if you like 13TH FLOOR ELEVATORS, BLACK LIPS, STRANGE BOYS.

thee oh sees - castlemania

New THEE OH SEES album dropping on June 14th through IN THE RED. Supposedly it will be more "laid back" and "sunny", hearkening back to "COOL DEATH OF ISLAND RAIDERS" era Oh Sees output.

According to all of the other press I've read I should insert something in here about how Thee Oh Sees put out a shit ton of music, but that's what a rock n' roll band is supposed to do. It's what a musician is supposed to do.

Duh, you make music. Putting out one album every couple of years is a cop out.

bad indians pt. 2

I know I just did a post on BAD INDIANS, but after sending them a link to said post they sent this bad boy my way.

Seriously, these kids are on it. They know what they're doing and if I were you I'd keep an eye on them.

Listen to their latest album "SOUNDS FROM THE BIG ROOM" over at their Bandcamp.

MUSIC /// RAYON BEACH - DEATH RIDES A HORSE

TEXAS psych marauders RAYON BEACH have teamed up with FRENCH sleaze peddlers PLASTIC SPOONS RECORDS for their latest release.

The songs on the DEATH RIDES A HORSE 7" are more clearly recorded than their earlier material and they keep with the diverse songwriting that we've all come to love from these guys.

Expect plenty of reverb and acid drenched guitars on this one and grab it from the PLASTIC SPOONS store below.

MUSIC /// HIGH POP - IT'S NOT HARD

From what I can tell, these kids are still in high school. I can't find much info, though. Their songs range from snotty brat pop to mellow "hand clappy" tunes.

Either way, I dig what they're up to and you can download their demos for free over at CLLCT.

MUSIC /// VOYAGEURS - WET DREAMS

VOYAGEURS is a group of southern weirdos making inherently dusty music perfect for tripping down the highway on an overcast East Coast fall day.

Download their entire album for free over at BANDCAMP

MUSIC /// JACKIE LOMAX - THE EAGLE LAUGHS AT YOU

JACKIE LOMAX is known for having worked with legendary artists such as ERIC CLAPTON, GEORGE HARRISON, and having released music through APPLE RECORDS.

For you hipster dicks, he's also TERRY RICHARDSONS' step dad.

This track is heavy as a lead bull dick.

MUSIC /// WOOZY VIPER - ROCK & ROLL

The mysterious weirdos behind WOOZY VIPER have released another venomous album into the world and it's completely free.

"ROCK & ROLL" is a fitting title for the album, which runs the gamut of rock n' roll sounds, from Stones-y struts to Sun Records echoed out rompers.

Download the album at their website below and shoot them an e-mail to let 'em know you like it. This will be a personal favorite of mine for a good while.

MUSIC /// SOPHIE SWEETLAND

SOPHIE SWEETLAND is a girl from Vancouver doing, seemingly, whatever the fuck she wants.

Nothing says punk to me more than running down the songs on an artist's Myspace page and hearing such diverse genres as noise, surf rock, and minimal electronics.

"BLUE SKIES" was a standout track with it's whirling psychedelic grime and ghostly vocals.

MUSIC /// GREG ASHLEY

This guy is seriously underrated.

Awesome rootsy sounding psychedelic music and he records it all himself in his Oakland studio.

Get your hands on "MEDICINE FUCK DREAM" if you get a chance because it's KILLER.

MUSIC /// Son Of Rams

SON OF RAMS is a side project of FAMILY TREES bassist Joe Pruitt.

While FAMILY TREES is a more mellow pop project, SON OF RAMS takes a more psychedelic 60's approach to things, at times reminding me of APPLES IN STEREO.

The songs are great and you can download a full album at the band's website.

MUSIC /// Ghost Coast

GHOST COAST is further proof that Texas is steady turning out awesome music.

Wonky, wobbly, country rock n' roll through a lo-fi medium with a Roky Erickson vibe weaving in and out.

The dude only has 3 songs up on his MySpace page, but I'm hoping to hear more soon.

I dare you to check it out.

xray eyeballs ///

Brooklyn's XRAY EYEBALLS is one of the only bands coming out of the city that I like right now.

Tongue dragging, psych-ish rock n' roll with a bizarre air about it.

The band just posted some freshly recorded songs on their blog and they're pretty damn awesome.

I suggest you go check them out and if you live in the Brooklyn area, keep an ear out for shows.

no joy ///

No Joy is a RIGHTEOUS shoegaze band. They have two fantastic songs up on their Bandcamp. The song "No Summer", my favorite of the two, is 4 minutes and 11 seconds of pure summer fun despite the title. It starts off with a nice guitar groove, sparse piano, and My Blood Valentinesque vocal melodies. In that time span, a few time changes are thrown in and the outro will melt your face off (in the totally cool Indiana Jones way). This song is an epic journey. If your summer has been a bummer so far, check this song out to uplift your spirit.
