if you don't follow radiolab then you are in for a freak-out kind of treat. awhile ago they did a show about time where they profiled this guy who digitally stretched beethoven's 9th symphony, so that played from beginning to end, it takes 24-hours to play through. the result is some kind of ambient disutopia of sound. it is beautiful and sometimes haunting, the things you hear when you slow down. a sample can be heard below, or download the free stream here for the whole thing.

dark sea of awareness ///

This cat from orlando peaked my interest the other night. he makes planetarium music, which can be found here dark sea of awareness. but what is really special is how he pulls off his live shows. one guy with one guitar (and tons of toys) manages to create intricate and dense layers that will make you think you are on pluto or something.

28 DEGREES TAURUS is a Massachusetts band based around the writing duo of Karina and Jinsen, two friends who have been making music together for around 3 years now. 

At first I listened to the song "ALL THE STARS IN YOUR EYES" and was reminded of a more melodic DEERHOOF, with less jagged freakiness and more mellow vibes. Then, as I listened to "MIDNIGHT SUN" I was totally thrown for a loop with a slow, ambient pop rock song. After listening to all the songs on their Myspace page, I came to realize that 28 DEGREES TAURUS don't give a fuck about convention or following a set sound as a band. And that's cool.
