smokey

Dark and moody white boy blues in the vein of Bill Callahan.

This music is vibing with me right now because of the terror which has stricken the South (via 150 freak tornadoes destroying most of Alabama and terrorizing just about everyone else in the South-East) and I hope you'll all keep the Southerners in your thoughts and prayers.

MUSIC /// Ghost Coast

GHOST COAST is further proof that Texas is steady turning out awesome music.

Wonky, wobbly, country rock n' roll through a lo-fi medium with a Roky Erickson vibe weaving in and out.

The dude only has 3 songs up on his MySpace page, but I'm hoping to hear more soon.

I dare you to check it out.

jonathan burks ///

JONATHAN BURKS is making honest honky tonk country with a laconic, whiskey tongue drag.

For the hipsters out there who won't listen to anything that isn't on Fader of Dickfork, think outside of your box and check this cat out.

It's fresh to hear someone making honest country music without all the irony the 2000's seem to have dug up.

animal trophies ///

The beginning of the one song on this band's Myspace page caught me way off guard.

REAL guitar playing!? Chet Atkins style chicken pickin!? What the fuck!?

It's totally awesome. I don't know much about these guys other than they're from France, but you can bet your ass I'll be posting more once I find out.

lazer zeppelin ///

LAZER ZEPPELIN is what can best be described as a psychedelic country band, but there's A LOT MORE going on here.

They hail from Olympia, WA, which is home to trillions of amazing bands and I think they're one of them.
Check out their Myspace page and decide for yourself what style of music this actually is.

johnny buffalo and the mutinous noise ///

Johnny Buffalo and the Mutinous Noise is a dark ass band. Imagine really gothy country punk, recorded on the lo-fi cheap by some dudes who probably supply your entire neighborhood with meth AND moonshine.

That's what this sounds like.

It's good.
