YOU'RE CALLED MESS FOLK. WHAT THE FUCK DOES THAT MEAN?
It's a name that summarizes pretty much the sound and the reality of the project. The music is inconsistent, bad, noisy, messy most of the time (all the time?) and the folk part is sort of like a reference to my frame of mind when I do art. I write songs like a folk singer... I write about my life. Every song I ever wrote is from my soul and what I'm going through at that time. Mess Folk is just the subjective truth, cynicism and laughter of a directionless 20 something male muddled into shit noise... I guess that's your answer.

Pedophiles. Literalist Christians. Having no money. Feeling empty. Depression. Being on drugs. Being off drugs. Math. People with money. My music.
WHY SHOULD I GO TO A MESS FOLK SHOW?
I don't know? I got a good backing band now... I guess that's a good reason. DALE FAHEY-bass, SHANE O HANDLEY-guitar, ADAM WHITE-drums They rule at making some funny backing music. They are really good musicians too technically. They give me a good back drop to get stuff off my chest. I can't wait to record an LP with them. It's our next project. I like recording music more then playing shows personally.... because usually our shows sometimes end up in chaos. Awkward chaos. We are banned from playing pretty much every bar in our home town. But you know what? It's not all bad. The adventure of the road, meeting people and just going into towns and playing gets me high. Playing music, doing art and poetry keeps me from being a bad person.

Yes. A lot of it.
IF VOLKSWAGEN ASKED TO USE A MESS FOLK SONG IN A CAR COMMERCIAL, WOULD YOU DO IT?

ARE THERE ANY BANDS OUT THERE WE SHOULD CHECK OUT?
The first Siekera demo is what I'm listening to right now. It's this crazy, bleak, angry hardcore from russian or some place close to there in the 1980's.
I'd also like to add that the tape "This Is Mess Folk" is going to be re-released with 10 added songs on vinyl LP very soon and we are working on a new LP that will be out on Scotch Tapes and Bacholer Records before the new year.
