Okay. A Russian surf rock duo with a female guitarist who shreds the shit out of her guitar. Get on it.

young wrists
Really, really good Italian twee, but if you listen to the lyrics this is some angst-y stuff.
Sounds like it could have come straight out of the 80's.
the cosmic dead
This GLASGOW based band has delivered an album of sprawling, 10 minute plus kraut rock and space jams which are perfect for a trip into the mind.

smokey
Dark and moody white boy blues in the vein of Bill Callahan.
This music is vibing with me right now because of the terror which has stricken the South (via 150 freak tornadoes destroying most of Alabama and terrorizing just about everyone else in the South-East) and I hope you'll all keep the Southerners in your thoughts and prayers.
coffin fly
I am super hard to please when it comes to rockabilly. I grew up on it, I play it, I live it, and there's SO MUCH generic sounding Stray Cats/cartoon crap out there to filter through.
COFFIN FLY immediately caught my attention with the artwork on this EP and upon first hearing "THE BLEND" I was sold.
Taking more from Memphis era Cramps recordings and Gene Vincent than Demented Are Go or any of that shit, these guys know what's up.
jody mulgrew
Upon hearing this I was flooded with heart broken high school memories.
It's very "pretty" and I wouldn't be surprised to hear it in a romantic comedy at some point.
Don't have a fit. Not everything should sound like Black Lips.

cross record
Not sure how to describe this record, really. Very mellow, all over the place, I like it a lot.
If you're into CAT POWER, you'll probably dig it.

porno de bolso
Have you heard any Brazilian punk rock today? No, you say? Well I have just the thing for you.
PORNO DE BOLSO rocks with a drunken swagger, and although I have no clue what they're saying (it's all in Portuguese) I know they're tough dudes.
christmas
This is the latest from Olympa, WA spazzy surfies CHRISTMAS.
So cRaAaAzy.
Recommended if you like INTELLIGENCE, B-52'S, THEE OH SEES.
jesse woods
Super laid back, soulful "folk" songs by this Austin-ite. Guy has a beautiful voice and I'd love to hear more from him.
Recommended if you like JESSE MALIN, RYAN ADAMS, FRESH AND ONLYS.
bleeding knees club
From what I can tell BLEEDING KNEES CLUB is a duo from the UK. They've got the garage thing going on, but the songs are actually there. Catchy, well produced, and just flat out good.
Recommended if you like HARLEM, TY SEGALL, JACUZZI BOYS.
teens
Here's some scrappy psychedelic rock n' roll for your Wednesday. These guys hail from Boise and I dig it.
Recommended if you like 13TH FLOOR ELEVATORS, BLACK LIPS, STRANGE BOYS.
Labels:
lo-fi,
psychedelic,
rock n' roll

staring problem
It's 11:30pm and I'm getting old and falling asleep.
Go paint a black cross on your forehead and get all goth poppy with STARING PROBLEM.
the spook school
It is so refreshing to hear original "twee" influenced music. Bands like VIVIAN GIRLS have all but killed the sound with half assed songs and their lazy eyes, but THE SPOOK SCHOOL seems to actually care about what they're doing.
AND they're Scottish!
Recommended if you like THE PASTELS, SHOP ASSISTANTS, SARAH RECORDS.
burden me
When's the last time you heard some decent post-hardcore? I don't mean any of that shit in Hot Topic being passed up as post-hardcore, but the real deal.
BURDEN ME brings that real deal. They remind me of SUNNY DAY REAL ESTATE, QUICKSAND, and bands of that ilk.
Give them a chance and remember a day when not all music on the internet was "lo-fi" or "blissed out reverb jams".
Today I'm sad to say we've lost another legend. POLY STYRENE, the famed singer for X-RAY SPEX has passed away due to complications from breast cancer.
POLY inspired countless women to do whatever they wanted to do, be as wild as they needed to be, and feel brave enough to show their intelligence.
In an odd, if not cruel, cosmic twist, on the day of Poly's passing her latest solo album, GENERATION INDIGO, was released. You can stream that here.

Oh breast cancer, up yours.

terrible feelings - tied up
TERRIBLE FEELINGS has released a new 7". These European cats make some pretty solid punk rock.
Wait for the guitar solo in the background on the title track. Greg Sage would be proud.
Check it out here.
Side note: If you're a band who is sending me music, don't be a dick and disable embedding on Soundcloud. What kind of stupid shit is that?
thee oh sees - castlemania
New THEE OH SEES album dropping on June 14th through IN THE RED. Supposedly it will be more "laid back" and "sunny", hearkening back to "COOL DEATH OF ISLAND RAIDERS" era Oh Sees output.
According to all of the other press I've read I should insert something in here about how Thee Oh Sees put out a shit ton of music, but that's what a rock n' roll band is supposed to do. It's what a musician is supposed to do.
Duh, you make music. Putting out one album every couple of years is a cop out.
puberty - invitations
New band from INTELLIGENCE mastermind Lars Finberg. Super good stuff. Grab the 7" from TELEPHONE EXPLOSION RECORDS.
