This is an older Beach House song, but this fan made video is awesome.

warm hands ///

Warm Hands is a guy from Portland named Conrad making mega creepy doom pop. That's about all I know and I like it that way. This music is ominous and would make the perfect soundtrack to a Richard Ramirez bio pic. A split cassette was released in late 2009 on Clan Destine Records with Bad Life, which you can snag below. I majorly suggest checking this kid out on his myskizz page. The songs "(COLD) GRAVES" and "DARKER" are highly recommended.

sensible nectar /// various

If you're into psychotic wacko possible serial killer noise music, then Sensible Nectar is your fucking jam. Justin Lloyd has a ton of musical personifications, all varying levels of noise, but Sensible Nectar is a more minimal style of the genre, using from what I can tell mostly just a guitar, vocals, and a shit ton of pedals. Imagine Prurient with a little more going on.
I totally suggest giving it a listen. The entire SN discography is up for download at the linker below.

DOM /// jesus

DOM dropped me an MP3 yesterday and I gotta say, I dig it. It's my idea of "chill", but with a Cheap Trick kind of vibe. Totally classic pop vibes here that I could see leading to a great album. Grab the mp3 of the track "Jesus" below and hit DOM up at their myskizz page.

the 5.6.7.8's

The 5.6.7.8's are "that band" with the "Woo Hoo" song from Kill Bill. Most people only know that song, but the band has been putting out killer singles and albums for YEARS. This is only one album of theirs, but I suggest you snag it and jam out to it.

-WT

suicide

I'm assuming most people know about Suicide. If not, they were a mega influential punk duo from New York and they played way minimal keyboard/vocals evil ass songs. You'll love it.

the reatards

Two kick ass Reatards albums in honor of Jay's passing earlier this month. These albums are amazing. Get them. "Heart of Chrome" on GROWN UP... might be one of my favorite songs ever.

easter island

Tear Jerks posted a new song up on their myskizz called "Easter Island". This one isn't an instrumental and is kind of a "pretty" song. I dig it. Go check it out!

-WT

woozy viper

Woozy Viper is a band from Brooklyn making rootsy blues punk tunes. That description doesn't really do it justice. The dudes on the album cover say it all. Anyways, you can download this whole biatch for free over at there website. Get it, you won't regret it.

harlem /// hippies

Thus far, this is THE album of 2010. I'll try and track down their debut, Free Drugs and put it up here later on, but this album is, well, FUN. Rockabilly influenced pop rock n' roll. It's great. Get it.

student teacher

Student Teacher is a gang of guys from Vancouver with some pretty "fresh" sounding vibes. The sound brings to mind a sort of lo-fi Sonic Youth, but the more melodic parts of that band. That's probably a horrible description, but I really dig these cats and look forward to hearing what they do next. Check 'em out below.

-WT

purple mercy

This band is really fucking heavy. Stoner hardcore. The album is sludgy, but it ain't happy about it.

stupid jerks

Tear Jerks, whose myskizz claims they're from Scotland, have a track up on their page called "Stupid Jerks" and it's AMAZING. It's simple trashy punk rock...with a glockenspiel and maaaan does the glockenspiel in this song make it happppen. They apparently have a free EP coming out later this month, so definitely keep a check out here for that.

too heavy

r.i.p. jay reatard

I'm a little late to the game here, as I just heard yesterday about the passing of Jay Reatard, but I have to say I'm mega bummed. Jay was a great example of what a rock n' roll musician should be in my book; prolific, honest, dedicated, and real. It's been said a million times, but he will undoubtedly be missed.

ya tu sabes

Mi hermanos in Lil Daggers posted a few new songs up on their myskizz page not too long ago and I finally got around to checking them out and duuuude, lemme tell you what; this music is fresh. Everybody likes to hate on Florida but you fucking fake ass haters can't listen to a band like Lil Daggers and tell me F-L-A ain't the place to be in 2010.

This is like if Dracula lost his fangs, got a grill, rolled a hooter and sat down behind his Grandpa's old Farfisa and devoted his life to gettin' fucking raw and gross. That's what Lil Daggers says to me. You'll dance to it and you'll have these tunes stuck in your noggin' for a good while. Their STRAGGLERS EP was one of my top 10 for 2009 and judging from new songs like "Ya Tu Sabes" and "Hungry" they have something even better in store for 2010. Get off your nuts and go hit play.

jello jammo

The Huxtables are a band I stumbled upon who apparently put out a tape(?) back in 2007 called A Touch Of Wonder. It's 17 instrumental pop punk tracks with guitar, drums, and some weird samples. I'd say all these songs are under 3 minutes (a lot under 2) and the album itself makes good cooking music...if that makes sense.

If you dig Deerhoof, Unicorns, blah blah blah.

the good things

Haunted Houses is from what I can tell just one dude: Ryan Lopilato. Ryan makes really awesome bedroom tunes that remind me of super early Modest Mouse, but he's got that cool new lo-fi echo thing going on that is uber-chic (whatever the fuck that means.) Regardless, I dig the kids songs and you should check him out. There is a 17 song album for download below and a tape for download on his myspace.
