 It's been a good one.

no name

Boredom Boys is a two piece from the UK making lo-fi (duh) guitar and drums pop. It's darker sounding than a lot of the frilly willy nilly shit that came out this past year, but I think they're definitely a band to keep up with going into 2010. They have a split tape with Golden GRRRLS, from Glasgow which you can get from Suplex Tapes below. Check these kids out and gibbem some luv.

If Dead Moon didn't exist, then I would dare to say that the world would be a completely different place. This is their first album. Get it and then go buy a t-shirt from their site.

ass demon

Anytime I see a picture of the Wavves dude I just think about how I would have totally kicked his ass in high school. Some of his songs are okay, though, I guess.

bla bla bla

Davila 666 are from Puerto Rico. They write super awesome garage pop junk. You should know this. Get that shit.

the crippler

Crush Your Cupcake were a band in Gainesville, Florida during 2007 and the band was comprised of Gainesville punk alum. The album they recorded for Arkain Records is one of the heaviest, balls out noisy punk albums I've ever heard. It's also mega catchy and I think you'll find yourself listening to it over and over again.

If you dig the Melvins and Stooges this is for your. Hit up Arkain Records for other free downloads:

devil worship

The Ex-Boogeymen are some Gainesville locals that I would stab a motherfucker for. True cats with rock n' roll in their blood (and god knows what else.) They're bringing it all home with some real Goth'd out pop with dirty 60's vibes and style all their own. They supposedly have an album finished but who knows where the fuckin' thing is, so hit 'em up and ask them. Three songs are up on their myspace page and I swear you'll feel it in your ass when they get goin'. If you live in Florida, do your best to catch 'em like the greasy fuckin' virus they are. When I say Grime Punk, this is what I mean.

2 - Flight - Over My Head
3 - Ty Segall & Mikal Cronin - Bikini Babes
4 - White Mystery - Powerglove
5 - T. Rex - One Inch Rock
6 - Shannon and the Clams - Scuffle With the Clams
7 - Rock N' Roll Adventure Kids - Elvis Carborator Blues

graveyard cities

Savages happens to be composed of some of my buds from around Gainesville, BUT they also happen to be one of the best bands in this dump of a town. If shoegaze and swirly pop sounds are your bag, then these fellers are where you want to be. They just released their debut EP, Graveyard Cities, which can be downloaded in full from the link below. I'm not gonna compare this to My Bloody Valentine because it's better than that schlock. Fuzzed out vocals, major sonic acrobatics, sweet jams.

If you're in Florida, try to make it out to a show sometime.

get on in

Bobby Ubangi. Some killer diller songs on here from an awesome songwriter who's done passed on. If you haven't heard Bobby Ubangi and you like rock n' roll, then just grab this shit. Don't talk back.

stupid town

Poppets are a band from Sweden making some good ol' muddy no-fi punk rock. It sounds like total shit, but it's fun and that's what matters here in the jungle. I'm not gonna compare them to a bunch of bands, but if you like the Ramones or Jay Reatard, this band is kind of a mix of both. Who gives a fuck, it's cool tunes.

chillwave is bullshit

Chillwave? What the fuck is this all about? Boring "songs" being played by stoned out dorks living in their parents basements? This genre seems to range from droning synth sounds with mumbling overtop it to songs being cut up in Garageband and retooled to be, well, boring.

I'm all for ambience, but not complacency. Chillwave appears to be intentionally boring and boring seems to be a new trend and to that I say Fuuuuck Nooo.

Keep it grime, baby.

true blue

Dirty Beaches are a Canadian band making some (and I hate to use this word because it's so popular right now) dreamy surf influenced pop songs. Imagine if the Vaselines were really into Frankie Valli. It's good shit without a doubt and their song "TRUE BLUE" is a keeper. If you're into a more Link Wray vibe, "SHANGRI-LA"  or "LIKE LOVERS DO" might be more your digs.

Either way, they've got a cool vibe going on.

punkin' chunkin'

Jheri over at Get Off The Coast tipped me off about these guys, who call themselves Golden Girls.

They're making some old school sounding punk rock with a good helping of 80's hardcore floating around in there. The songs on their page have titles like "TEENAGE RAPE FANTASYYY" and "AMATEUR TEEN SEX ATTICS", so it seems like their minds are in the right place.

Plus, they have a picture of naked women riding skateboards on their page. That alone is worth checking out.

Dig on 'em and let them know what you think!

we got new digs

As you may notice, we got a new layout. I've been looking for one that didn't look completely stupid for a while, so I think this will work.
